We know that leprechauns are tricky.
We know that they like sparkly things.
They are tiny.
And they don't follow signs.
We know that in order to catch a leprechaun, it takes:

as we tried to catch a leprechaun this St. Patrick's Day.
We may not have been LUCKY this year, but we all felt Irish on that day.
